Out of sheer frustration I wiped my iPhone clean and reset it back to the default.  I had been getting around 12 hours maximum out of the phone with no apps running.

Since I did the reset, I'm getting epic times out of it...on the order of 6X!  In the past I had always restored my new iPhone from my old one...not anymore!

PS It's a 6 month old 3GS.
